Ingredients

  • 3 1/2-4 c oats not instant
  • 3 cups milk
  • 3 cups water
  • 3-5 apples peeled, cored, and chopped
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
  • For the Glaze
  • 3 tablespoons butter melted
  • 2 1/4 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

1 ) In a large lightly greased slow cooker, mix together all ingredients for oatmeal (not for the glaze)

2 ) Cook on low for about 8 hours, or overnight.

3 ) When oatmeal is cooked through and apples are tender, prepare the glaze: whisk melted butter and powdered sugar together. Mix in milk, 1 tablespoon at a time. Then whisk in vanilla extract.

4 ) Serve Crockpot Apple Oatmeal warm, drizzled with the powdered sugar glaze, and extra milk, if desired.

Tips for the Best Overnight Crockpot Apple Oatmeal

  1. Use Old-Fashioned Oats – Steel-cut oats work too, but avoid quick oats as they can become too mushy.
  2. Pick the Right Apples – Tart apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp hold their shape best and add a delicious balance of flavor.
  3. Grease the Slow Cooker – Lightly coat the crockpot with butter or nonstick spray to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
  4. Use the Right Liquid Ratio – A mix of milk and water creates a creamy yet light texture. Too much liquid can make the oatmeal overly soft.
  5. Add Spices for More Flavor – Cinnamon, nutmeg, and a pinch of cloves enhance the warm, cozy taste.
  6. Stir Before Serving – Give the oatmeal a quick stir in the morning to mix in the flavors and adjust the consistency with extra milk if needed.
  7. Customize with Toppings – Add nuts, dried fruit, maple syrup, or a drizzle of honey for extra sweetness and texture.

Conclusion

This Overnight Crockpot Apple Oatmeal is the perfect make-ahead breakfast for busy mornings, lazy weekends, or holiday gatherings. It’s packed with wholesome oats, tender apples, and warm fall spices, all slow-cooked to perfection while you sleep.
