Amazfit T-Rex Pro Review: Your Rugged Companion for Outdoor Adventures

Amazfit T-Rex Pro Review

Looking for a rugged smartwatch to accompany you on your thrilling outdoor adventures? If you’re the adventurous type who loves to ditch the sofa and embrace adrenaline-pumping activities in nature, the Amazfit T-Rex Pro might be your perfect fit.

As a reviewer, I must admit this is one of the most durable smartwatches I’ve tested in quite some time. With its tagline, “Explore Your Instincts,” the T-Rex Pro lives up to its promise, enabling you to conquer new terrains with confidence.

However, if your instincts lean towards cozying up indoors with a bottle of single malt, fret not, we’ve got you covered too. In this review, we’ll delve into the impressive features of the Amazfit T-Rex Pro, catering to both the adventurers and comfort seekers among us. Let’s embark on this exciting journey together. Check out the latest price here.

Design and Build

First of all, let’s talk about the design and build of the Amazfit T-Rex Pro. You’ve got a choice of three colors: Meteorite Black, Desert Gray, and Steel Blue. Now, I’m not entirely sure if any of those colors actually resemble their namesakes, but moving on. The T-Rex Pro features a metal-sprayed bezel, which Amazfit cheekily describes as “metal spread.” In reality, it’s essentially just plastic with a metallic-style paint job. Despite being made of plastic, the T-Rex Pro has a decent heft to it, just shy of 60 grams.

Once you slap it on your wrist, though, you get used to wearing it, and it becomes quite comfortable, almost to the point where you forget it’s even there. The 22mm silicone straps add to the comfort, making it suitable for extended wear. However, unlike some other smartwatches, the straps are not removable.

Now, I have to admit, the Amazfit T-Rex Pro is not going to win any awards for its looks. It’s quite chunky and blocky, giving it a rugged and utilitarian appearance. But let’s remember, it’s not designed for aesthetics; it’s designed to be tough as heck.

This bad boy has survived 15 military-grade tests, making it shock-absorbent. The tempered glass screen, along with the sunken-in bezel, helps protect the display. As a result, it can tolerate hot and cold temperatures to extreme degrees.

With water resistance down to depths of around 10 atmospheres, this watch is definitely worthy of four and a half Jason Stathams out of five on the double-hard bastard scale.

Setup and Interface

Getting the Amazfit T-Rex Pro up and running is a breeze. If you’ve used any Amazfit watches before, the setup process will feel familiar. Just download the Zepp app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, and you’re good to go.

The Zepp app allows you to track your progress, fitness stats, and customize the watch settings. You can set up notification support for various apps and personalize the order in which apps appear in the menu. Check out the latest price here.

Display and Watch Faces

The Amazfit T-Rex Pro sports a 1.3-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 360 by 360 pixels. This translates to crisp images and reasonably poppy colors. If you pull down the settings menu, you’ll have access to your screen brightness adjustment.

The automatic brightness setting works well for day-to-day use, but if you’re outdoors and need a little extra boost, you can manually adjust it. There’s also an always-on display feature, which you can enable in the Zepp app. Keep in mind that enabling this feature will impact battery life.

The one limitation with Amazfit watches is their lack of extensive customization options for watch faces. However, there’s still a selection of watch faces to choose from, including analog and digital options. You can even set a custom background to add a personal touch.

Originals, audiobooks and podcasts—all in one place.

Fitness Tracking

Now, let’s get to the meat of it: fitness tracking. The Amazfit T-Rex Pro doesn’t disappoint in this department. It offers a vast array of fitness tracking features, covering everything from indoor workouts to outdoor adventures. Whether you’re running, cycling, hiking, swimming, or engaging in various sports activities, this watch has got you covered.

The heart rate monitoring is accurate and provides detailed insights into your heart rate zones during workouts. If you’re into measuring your blood oxygen levels, the SpO2 tracking is available as well. You’ve got onboard GPS tracking for outdoor activities, making it convenient to leave your phone behind and still keep tabs on your progress.

Battery Life

With its 390mAh battery, the Amazfit T-Rex Pro boasts impressive battery life. Amazfit claims it can last up to 18 days with typical use or up to 9 days with heavy use. However, real-world usage might vary. With moderate to heavy use, you can expect the battery to last around 4 to 5 days, which is still quite commendable for a feature-rich smartwatch.

In case you’re pushing the limits of battery life, there are battery-saver modes to help you out. These modes will disable certain features to prolong the battery life, ensuring you don’t run out of juice during your adventures.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the Amazfit T-Rex Pro is an excellent choice for outdoor enthusiasts and anyone leading an active lifestyle. Its rugged build, comprehensive fitness tracking features, and impressive battery life make it a dependable companion for all your adventures.

While the design might not be the most attractive, it’s not meant to be a fashion statement; it’s meant to withstand the elements and be your reliable companion in the great outdoors. Priced at $189 in the US or £139 in the UK, the Amazfit T-Rex Pro offers good value for money, especially considering the durability and functionality it provides.

So, if you’re ready to explore your instincts and embrace all the outdoor activities life has to offer, the Amazfit T-Rex Pro is waiting to be your trusty companion on the journey. Cheers to your next wild expedition! Check out the latest price here.
