How to Make Air Fryer Chicken Breast

How to Make Air Fryer Chicken Breast

How to make Air Fryer Panko Crusted Chicken breast. This recipe for chicken breasts that are air-fried crispy and juicy with a simple flour, egg, and panko breading is delicious! These are similar to oven-baked but the air fryer offers convection heat, which gives these chicken

breasts a crispy, fried taste if you coat the chicken breasts with a little olive oil. Dip these chicken breasts into a little of Amy’s famous Honey Mustard Sauce, and they are delicious!

I’ve had trouble making chicken breast by frying them by oven or baking them, but I started making them in the air fryer and let me tell you they are absolutely fantastic!

I coated my chicken breasts with Panko, and you can coat your breadcrumbs if you want to. Panko is just basically Japanese breadcrumbs. These are plain because we’re going to be searing them in the air fryer.

One of the things with panko and that’s a challenge with chicken breasts or tenders is when you’re cooking them either on the stove or deep-frying them, the panko tends to get overcooked before the chicken is cooked. So you have undercooked chicken and perfectly cooked panko, or you have overcooked panko by the time the chicken is done.

But one of the great things

about the air fryer is I have learned it doesn’t overcook the panko. So panko-crusted chicken breasts are absolutely fantastic in the air fryer; because you don’t run into the same problems you do when you’re frying them in oil.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Breading

  • 1/4 cup bread crumbs or Panko
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/16 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Instructions

1 ) Heat air fryer to 390°F / 200 °C.
2 ) Slice chicken breasts in half to make two thin chicken breast halves from each.
3 ) Brush each side lightly with olive oil.
4 ) Stir together the breading ingredients. Dredge the chicken breasts in the breading multiple times until they are thoroughly coated.
5 ) Shake off excess breading, and place in the air fryer (2 chicken breast halves at a             time).
6 ) Cook for 4 minutes, flip, then two more minutes. Cook time will depend on the size and thickness of your chicken breasts, so cut one in half to see if they are done.

To prepare ahead

These air fryer chicken breasts may be cooked 2-3 days ahead and stored in the fridge. Place them back in the air fryer for 2-3 minutes until heated through and breading is crispy again.

Notes

Chicken may be cooked up to 3 days ahead, and re-heated in the air fryer for 2-3 minutes until heated through and crispy.
