Mi Band 4 vs Honor Band 5

Straps And Comfort: Both, the Mi band 4 and Honor Band 5 feature different types of straps that affect the way you wear them on. The Mi band 4 uses the same button strap that we’ve seen on its predecessors Mi band 3 and Mi band 2, where you push the button in to lock the correct size in for your wrist; meanwhile, the Honor Band 5 strap works just like any typical watch where you lock in the sides with the traditional hook.

The Honor Band 5 is definitely easier to put on, and because the straps are actually softer and more flexible compared to the formal strap on a Mi band 4, it definitely feels more comfortable to put on compared to the Mi Band 4. The band on the Mi band 4 definitely looks nice in all, but once again honor is focusing more on function over form, so with the Honor band 5, it is just easy to put on and feels more comfortable than Mi band 4.

Display: The display on both Mi band 4 and Honor band 5 use AMOLED panels that are very similar in size, and they work great even under bright daylight. And because they have amazing viewing angles, you’ll never have any issues with seeing information on both.

One thing to note is that both these devices do not have an always-on display, so you’ll have to either raise your hand to light on the watch or simply tap on the home button to do the same thing. One thing I didn’t notice here was that the honor band 5, reacts more accurately towards my movements.

And what I mean by this, is that most of the time the display lights up right away as soon as I raise my hand, the same cannot be said for a Mi band 4; because, even after setting the raise detection to most sensitive level, the Mi band 4 still doesn’t detect when I raise my hand very often. And the screen will not light up even after I moved my head vigorously.

So this is especially annoying when you’re holding something with your other hand and cannot press the home button to wake the device. initially, I thought this was an issue with my Mi band 4 particularly, but I tested another unit and the result is the same so please bear that in mind.

Another tiny thing I noticed here was that the display goes off quicker on the Mi band 4, and again that can be annoying. Because you can’t set how long you want a display to stay on in and sometimes when you’re reading a notification that is a bit too long. The display goes off too quickly for you to even finish reading the display.
