OnePlus Watch 2 Renders Revealed as Certification Hints at Early 2024 Launch

OnePlus Watch 2

In an exciting development for tech enthusiasts, India’s Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) recently certified the highly anticipated OnePlus Watch 2, bearing the model number OPWWE231. This certification suggests that the successor to the original OnePlus smartwatch is on the horizon, with expectations of an early 2024 unveiling, potentially coinciding with the introduction of the OnePlus 12 handset.

Collaborating with @OnLeaks, MySmartPrice has unveiled renders of the OnePlus Watch 2, providing a glimpse into the device’s potential design and features. According to the leaks, the upcoming smartwatch is poised to feature a slightly larger 1.43-inch AMOLED display compared to the 1.39-inch screen on its predecessor. Powering the device is the Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 chipset, a familiar system-on-chip also found in the Pixel Watch 2. Notably, both watches will run on the Wear OS 4 operating system, enhancing their app compatibility and functionality.

While additional specifications remain under wraps, it’s worth recalling that the original OnePlus Watch boasted 1GB of RAM, 4GB of storage, and operated on its proprietary operating system. The shift to Wear OS 4 in the OnePlus Watch 2 signals a significant upgrade, offering users a broader range of apps without solely relying on OnePlus updates for expanded capabilities. The first-generation OnePlus Watch was priced at $159.

The leaked renders showcase OnePlus’s commitment to maintaining the circular dial design while introducing a noticeable bump on the right side of the device. This bump is set to house a pair of buttons, deviating from the OG unit’s design, which featured two buttons protruding directly from the right side of the dial.

It’s essential to note that these renders are based on “actual images of a prototype in the testing phase,” indicating that the final version of the OnePlus Watch 2 may differ from the images currently circulating. As anticipation builds for the official launch, tech enthusiasts are eager to witness the innovative features and improvements that OnePlus has in store for its latest smartwatch iteration.
