Xiaomi Pad 6 Review: A Powerful and Feature-Packed Tablet

Xiaomi Pad 6 Review

The global release of the Xiaomi Pad 6 has garnered much anticipation, and I have been fortunate enough to get my hands on this tablet and its accessories, including the smart pin, the second-generation stylus, and the impressive type cover style keyboard.

Powered by the Snapdragon 870 chipset, the Pad 6 proves its worth even in 2023. With 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, expandable up to 256GB, the tablet boasts impressive performance. In this Xiaomi Pad 6 Review we’ll dive into the details of this device and explore its design, features, performance, and more.

Design and Display:

The Xiaomi Pad 6 sports an elegant and sleek design, measuring just 6.5mm thick and weighing a mere 490 grams. The 11-inch 144Hz IPS screen offers a resolution of 2880×1800 and a 16:10 aspect ratio, providing a pixel density of 309 PPI.

The slim bezels add to the overall attractiveness of the tablet, while the front-facing 8-megapixel camera ensures decent video call quality. The screen’s maximum brightness reaches 550 nits, though my measurements show it at around 470 nits. The option to switch between 90Hz and 144Hz refresh rates offers flexibility based on user preferences and battery needs.

While the IPS panel delivers good quality, I must admit that I would have preferred an OLED display for its deeper blacks and uniform color representation. Nevertheless, the touch response on the Pad 6 is excellent, making it a pleasure to navigate through the device.

Accessories and Keyboards:

The Xiaomi Pad 6 offers two noteworthy accessories – the Smart Pen (Gen 2) stylus and the type cover-style keyboard. The stylus features 496 pressure-sensitive levels, offering precise and smooth writing experiences. Additionally, it supports third-party applications, making it a versatile tool for creative professionals and note-takers alike.

The keyboard, though a bit pricey, provides a satisfying typing experience and securely props up the tablet at a fixed angle. For those not keen on physical keyboards, the official case serves as both a protective cover and a stand for the tablet.

Performance and Multitasking:

Powered by the Snapdragon 870, the Xiaomi Pad 6 impresses with its solid performance. The processor, based on the Snapdragon 865, showcases its capability even in 2023, handling most tasks with ease.

The inclusion of MIUI Pad OS ensures that the tablet’s software is optimized for tablet use and not merely a rehash of the mobile version. With multitasking features like parallel windows and floating windows, the tablet provides a smooth and efficient experience when juggling between apps.

Battery Life:

The Xiaomi Pad 6 boasts a battery capacity of 8840mAh, allowing it to deliver impressive battery life. With dynamic refresh rate management, you can expect around 9 to 10 hours of usage on a single charge.

Switching to the lower 60Hz refresh rate extends battery life to approximately 10 hours, while maintaining 144Hz will naturally reduce battery performance. All in all, the battery life is commendable, but the absence of a 3.5mm headphone jack might be a drawback for some users.

Camera and Audio:

The front-facing 8-megapixel camera offers good video quality, while the 13-megapixel rear camera, which supports 4K video recording, performs adequately for a tablet. The audio quality is a highlight, thanks to the Dolby Atmos speakers.

They deliver a loud, clear, and punchy sound, enhancing the overall multimedia experience. However, I believe the absence of a 3.5mm headphone jack is a missed opportunity, as it would have provided greater convenience for users.

Originals, audiobooks and podcasts—all in one place.

Pros:

  1. Powerful Snapdragon 870 chipset
  2. High refresh rate display with excellent touch response
  3. Impressive audio quality with Dolby Atmos speakers
  4. Versatile Smart Pen (Gen 2) stylus and type cover-style keyboard
  5. Long-lasting battery life with dynamic refresh rate management
  6. Minimal bloatware and no advertising in the ROM

Cons:

  1. No 3.5mm headphone jack
  2. Lack of microSD card support
  3. IPS display with slight non-uniformity on edges

Conclusion:

The Xiaomi Pad 6 proves to be a solid performer with its Snapdragon 870 chipset and MIUI Pad OS. The elegant design, high refresh rate display, and impressive audio quality make it an attractive option for multimedia consumption and light productivity tasks.

The stylus and keyboard accessories add versatility and functionality, enhancing the overall tablet experience. While the absence of a 3.5mm headphone jack might be a drawback for some, the overall package of the Xiaomi Pad 6 makes it a compelling choice in the competitive tablet market.

In conclusion, the Xiaomi Pad 6 offers a compelling package with its powerful performance, sleek design, and excellent accessories. It provides a delightful multimedia experience and handles multitasking with ease, making it a strong contender for those seeking a balanced and versatile tablet.

If you’re looking for an alternative to Xiaomi Pad 6, You can consider one of the latest Tab Series from Samsung: Galaxy Tab S9 or S9 Plus, or S9 Ultra.
